Helen Zia is an author and activist who has been outspoken on issues ranging from civil rights and peace to women's rights and countering hate-violence and homophobia. Forty-one years ago, she spearheaded the national campaign for justice for Vincent Chin--the first broad-based, pan-Asian, multiracial civil rights movement. Last year she founded the Vincent Chin Institute to advance those lessons of solidarity and unity for the full humanity of all and to counter hate in all forms, including anti-Asian hate.



Drawing on her own lived experience and characteristic determination, Helen is leading the Institute to “mobilize a generation of OGs and experienced leaders to use their expertise to help fortify communities with limited or no AAPI advocacy infrastructure.”
