Weonhee was raised in Virginia and now resides with her family in Decatur, GA. As a parent of three public school children and founder of Asian American Voices for Education, she advocates for all Georgia students to know they belong, and are valued and empowered in the classroom. Weonhee co-founded the Decatur Lunar New Year in 2022, the first pan-Asian Lunar New Year Festival in the metro-Atlanta area and also began Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committees in City Schools of Decatur. Her speaking arrangements include Emory University's We Love Diverse Books, Georgia Council for Social Studies, Georgia Council for History Education, Google Atlanta, among others. She has been featured on NPR, NBC News and GPB for her work in GA K-12 education and advocacy.
