Lauren Chan
Lauren Chan
Model, Entrepreneur, and Size-Inclusion Advocate
.
Lauren Chan began her career as a plus-size model. She later landed at Glamour as the fashion features editor, where she personally owned the size-inclusive fashion beat. Despite her unprecedented impact on fashion media, Chan still struggled to find plus-size product. In 2019 she launched Henning, her own brand of luxury clothing for women size 12 and up. Thanks to her history-making appearance as the first queer, plus-size model in the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, Chan is navigating a new chapter. Just as she had with size-inclusion, she is using her platform to call for the increased inclusion of LGBTQ+ folks in media. For her work as a journalist, entrepreneur, and advocate, Chan is the recipient of honors and awards like the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards’ Model of the Year, Toronto Life’s 50 Most Influential Canadians, Marie Claire’s 2023 Power List, the Condé Nast Business Accelerator Award, Create & Cultivate 100, and the ASME Next Award, to name a few.
